Oakes is a Chartered Valuation Registered Surveyor with over 25 years’ experience in General Practice Surveying spanning two continents, United Kingdom and Africa.

Having trained in Africa and the United Kingdom has worked for a number of public and private organisations namely Coventry City Council, Cheltenham Borough Council, and Urban-vision Partnership Ltd.

He had during these period undertaken property management works, which included rent reviews, lease renewal valuations and negotiations acting for both property owners and tenants, insurance, asset and red book valuations. He later moved on to the Valuation Office Agency where he advised on business rates appeals for and on behalf of landlords and tenants, central and local governments including preparing and appearing at the Valuations and Lands tribunals.

Oakes had short period as a Valuer with Commercial Direct Surveyors where his main duties were those of RICS red book valuations on commercial and residential properties for a wide range of clients that includes banks, property investment companies, pension funds, solicitors and private individuals. He has worked briefly with agencies on an umbrella type arrangement delivering property valuation and management services prior setting up MCL.
